Fable of the Lamplands…
…is a MiddleGrade/Tween epic fantasy series with characters ranging in age from 12-17. Fable of the Lamplands features a strong female lead character and a diverse cast of friends and family. It will appeal to fans of Keeper of the Lost Cities, Nevermoor, Inkheart, The Search for WandLa, and the Ranger’s Apprentice.
It has themes of Power, Birth Family, Found Family, standing up for one’s rights and the rights of others, and being true to oneself.
There are main characters who represent the LGBQT+ Community, as well as main characters who have disabilities both physical and mental.
Fable of the Lamplands is designed to be a series of at least 5 books, but has the potential for more. Each book explores further into the human Kingdoms, the Orc Lands, and the Dryad Territories—exploring the relationship between the three species. The books also tackle the question of power and how to use it.
About the Illustrations
While the prose for Fable of the Lamplands can stand on its own, I have illustrated various moments from the book that work in both color and black & white. I would love to see this book with illustrations and I believe it would only add to the reader’s enjoyment.
Many of the moments I’ve illustrated have changed drastically or have been cut all together (the image to the right is from a cut scene.) I was trained as a concept and sequential artists for movies, and I often use these illustrations to inspire the prose and to explore the personalities of the many characters. I am not attached to keeping a scene simply because I have illustrated it. If the story demands it, I will cut or change a scene, even if that means the illustration no longer works for the book.
